If your eyes become dry or irritated, it's important to remove your contacts and give your eyes a break. If your glasses have an outdated prescription, or you don't own a pair, you may be tempted to keep wearing your contacts longer than you should. That can make irritation worse and increase your risk of an eye infection.

Step 4

Choose any frame up to $39 and enter your eyeglass prescription. Clear, single vision prescription lenses are included.

You'll need your glasses prescription

You'll need a valid eyeglass prescription to order your free glasses. This is different from your contact lens prescription. If your last eye exam included a glasses prescription, your doctor was required by federal law to give you a copy at no extra charge.

Your right to your glasses prescription

  • After any eye exam that measures your prescription, your eye doctor must give you a copy of your glasses prescription, whether you ask for it or not.
  • They must give it to you right after the exam, before offering to sell you glasses.
  • They can't charge an extra fee for it, require you to buy glasses from them, or ask you to sign a waiver.
  • You're entitled to a paper copy, even if they offer a digital one.

This is the FTC's Eyeglass Rule, a federal law that applies in every state.
